Happy new year and Happy final unit.
In academic math II we began our final unit of probability and statistics these last two days. On day one we defined the sample space which is the basis for all probability. We then defined basic probability and how to calculate it as well as adding compound probability. On day two we talked more about venn diagrams and then we introduced the tree diagram. This is an organizational tool for finding the number of possibilities for multiple events. We then showed the way to calculate this with the fundamental counting principle.
Day 1 and 2 notes
In Honors math 2 we continued the final unit. We reviewed on Monday and talked about Einstein's riddle to usher in the new year with some fun. On Tuesday we went over the Einstein riddle and then talked about conditional probability. This is where you ask for the probability of an event when you already know something has happened previously. We went through it conceptually as well as computationally and learned the formula.
