In Honors Math II we went through the basics of trig. We learned sine, cosine, tangent as well as SOHCAHTOA. We went through a bunch of examples of the basics as well as using these trigonometric operations to solve for a missing side of a right triangle. Here are the notes.
In academic we began day 2 of our new unit with special right triangles. We talk about 30-60-90 triangles and 45-45-90 triangles and their pattern. We went through many examples and then they practices. 5-2 is homework. Here are the notes.

Today in Academic we began with an IQ problem Afterwards, we talked about the tests in general and I passed out the new unit material. I told them this unit would be a place to start off the new quarter well and to work hard. We began with pythagorean theorem. 5-1 is homework. Here are the notes.
In honors we talked about the homework from day 1 and then began our lesson on special right triangles. We learned about them and a little bit about why they exist. We went through many examples and practiced it a lot. Here are the notes. Today in academic we took the Unit 4 test.
In Honors Math II we began our new unit. I told them the retest would be Thursday and we went over some IQ problems. We began with the IQ problems and then went into the notes on Pythagorean theorem. We went through many examples of it and its inverse as well as some word problems. We talked about common pythagorean triples. Here are the notes. Today in academic we reviewed for the exam on Monday. We went through problems on white boards. Here are all of the notes. Here is the key to the review for the exam.
In Honors we went through the basics of logarithms to get them ready for learning them in the future. They received their tests back and we will begin the new unit on Monday. We are now back together in Academic Math II. We went through the variation homework after our warmup. We then went through solving rational equations. This involved getting common denominator, simplifying, and using reverse order of operations. We went through a bunch of examples and then I gave them their homework. We will go through more examples tomorrow. Here are the notes.
In Honors Math II they completed a talking day. After going through that, I gave them their review worksheets and told them to study for tomorrow. 1st block: We began with another IQ question and then went through our variation homework. We went through each problem and I had someone walk me through it. We went through why problems that end up like 12=5/x are difficult and how to solve them. We then went through more variation problems and practice until the end of class. I gave them Pg 3 Variation practice #10, 11, 12 for homework from the attachment. 3rd block Honors: We began with our IQ problem and then moved on to the homework. We went through the square root problems and then began the cube root problems. We went through the differences and similarities of them before finishing up with reciprocal functions. We discussed asymptotes and how they affected the domain, range, etc... Lastly, I passed out quizzes for them to take back and look at. Here are the notes pt 1 , and pt 2. 4th block: We began with our IQ problem and then went over the homework. Afterwards we went through our variation notes which can be found in the 1st block link. We went through all the problems on this link. Test will be Monday 10/23 for academic and Thursday 10/19 for honors. After a busy homecoming weekend we are all back to work.
In academic math II we went through notes on variation in 1st block. We went through the different types and how to differentiate. In 4th block we went through the notes on solving radical equations. This is 4-3. We are a day behind in 4th block due to the pep rally on Friday. We will catch up in the next few days. We will be testing on 10/23. Here are the notes In honors Math II we did not go over the quizzes, but will tomorrow. We did start a lesson on graphing radical functions. We went through all the pieces of the graph. We discussed the shape, the points, domain, range, asymptotes etc... I made a point to relate it to what we were discussing with the quadratics last unit. We will continue this and complete graphing reciprocal functions (inverse variation) tomorrow. We will be testing on Thursday. Here are the notes. We only got through square root and will finish cube root and reciprocal functions tomorrow. Today in academic math II we quizzed and then went through the following notes. 4th block is required to finish these notes and complete the 4-2 homework tonight.
notes Today in Honors we went through the homework and then did a kahoot on these radical equations. I do not have a lot of notes, but I do have the 4-4 homework number 4 answer to show everyone who may still be confused by it. 4-4 number 4 Today was the PSAT day so we didn't complete full lessons in classes today.
In academic the students received their tests and were to work on corrections or the homework for the class period. Students worked in groups or pairs to work on corrections. In Honors we went over their homework assignments thus far and I answered questions about the topics they have learned up to this point. We also completed another IQ problem. At the end of class they received their tests and were able to start corrections if they had time. The retest will be Tuesday 10/17 and the students must complete corrections and show me before they are allowed to retest. |
AuthorHere I will look forward at upcoming topics and events in the class as well as reflect on the previous weeks. Archives
