Honors Math II

02/13 - Today we began with a warm up reviewing completing the square. We went over some examples of how the problem could look different. We learned how to solve and what to do if there is a leading coefficient other than 1. We then attempted completing the square in general to create the quadratic formula. Afterwards we went to the lockers and worked on a completing the square activity. Tomorrow will be the review for the Unit 2 Exam.

02/14 - Today was a talking day. This is a review day where I force the students to become leaders and work through problems on a powerpoint together as a class. Their job is to complete each problem and explain it and write it down effectively. Each student is responsible for different things depending on their title. After the talking day I gave them critiques as well as going over some of the problems with them. They will have the test tomorrow.

02/15 - Today we took the Unit 2 Test. Afterwards they received their Unit 3 Placemats which we will discuss in class tomorrow.

02/16 - Today we began the unit by going over the placemats. I asked it they had questions and we went over the foundational topics from the unit. Afterwards we began learning monomial rules and how to add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.

02/14 - Today we began with a warm up on completing the square and quadratic formula. After that they worked in groups on a review worksheet. I expected them to spend the first half of the time working without asking me questions. They had to look at their notes to figure out how to complete the problems. After that I allowed them to ask questions and they worked through the rest of the worksheet. Tomorrow will be our formal test review day.

02/15 - Today we began with a warmup reviewing some important topics from the unit. Afterwards we began a review activity where they wrote answers on their white boards and held it up. We went through each topic a few times and I answered questions throughout. They received a review at the end for them to prepare for the exam.

02/16 - We took the Unit 2 exam today.

02/17 - Today we began by discussing the test. Afterwards we began talking about what it means to be a monomial. We learned monomial rules for multiplication, division, and exponents. Afterwards we moved on to adding polynomials and did a lot of practice with it. Last we learned multiplying polynomials and then ended with telling them the homework was 3-1.
