In academic math II we took the vocabulary quiz to start off the class period. We reviewed a little bit before and then they were given 20 minutes to take the quiz. After the 20 minutes, I began a lesson on the triangle angle sum theorem. This theorem states that the angles of a triangle must add up to 180 degrees. We used this and built slowly on it. We started out with easy problems and worked towards multi-step. 7.4 is homework.

here are the notes.

In Honors Math II we began with a warmup and then moved on to more practice with similar triangle proofs. We went through many more examples and the students led me through some. Afterwards, we went on to learn a couple new theorems. We introduced the midsegment theorem and practiced it. Homework is 7-6. Tomorrow we will go back and practice proofs individually and in groups to help them solidify their understanding.

Here are the notes pt 1, and notes pt 2

I apologize for not having the blog yesterday. I will place all the last two days materials on this post.

In academic we have continued our lessons. On Tuesday we went through parallel line angle pairs. We went through them all and wrote them in their notes. They were instructed to make note cards for these angle relationships and do the next homework. Today we went through using these types of triangles to solve for variables. We broke these properties down into two steps and then solved for variables and angles. They must complete the next section of homework for tomorrow and we have a vocab quiz tomorrow.

Here are the last two days notes

In honors we have just kept trucking along in the unit. Yesterday we introduced similar triangles. We talked about the AA, SAS, SSS triangle similarity theorems. We went through examples and talked about labeling the diagram, the similarity statement and the reason. Today we began with a quiz on the similar triangles. After the quiz, we went through some basic examples of how to complete proofs using similar triangles. We went through some basic examples and I had them lead me through some. We will complete more tomorrow and move on to the next topic.

In academic today we began our new unit. We went through our notes on vocab words all class. They need to complete note cards for each definition by tomorrow. They will be graded each day and will not be able to be made up for a late grade. Here are the notes.

In honors we took a vocab quiz and began talking about proofs and similar triangles. We practices some logic steps and discussed why this was important. Here are the notes for day 3 since I didn't do a blog that day.

Today in academic math II, we reviewed in class. We began by talking about all the transformations and coming up with the rules and some examples. We then moved into the hall for an activity. After the activity I gave them their reviews and they worked on them for the rest of class. Here is the review key.

Today in honors math II we did day 2 of notes. It was parallel line angle pairs. We went through all the types and reviewed how to set up a proof. Here is day 1 of notes. Here is day 2 of notes.

In academic math II, we began by reviewing for our quiz. After review, we took the quiz. We then began our lesson on dilations. We discussed how they are making objects bigger or smaller. We discussed the difference between them and then how to complete them. After that, I passed out the sheet for their project as well as the phone opt in contract.

In Honors Math II, we went through the talking day in class. After that, I passed out their reviews and they worked on that or their project. The test is tomorrow.

Today in academic math II we went over our homework packet day 1. After going over it we began a warmup to practice the previous 2 days of material. We then moved on to learn how to complete rotations. I began by discussing clockwise versus counter-clockwise. I told them they will always change everything to counter-clockwise. After discussing that we learned the rules for 90, 180, and 270 and discussed why 360 doesn't have a rule. I then practiced some examples with them. After some practice, I told them about a project they will get tomorrow and reminded them about their quiz. Here are the notes.

In Honors Math II, we reviewed for the transformations quiz. After review, we took the quiz. I gave them 20 minutes to take the quiz and then they worked on their projects for the rest of class.

In academic math 2 we went through the reflections notes. We talked about reflections across the y-axis, x-axis, y=x as well as other horizontal and vertical lines. We talked about the retest on Wednesday. Test corrections must be completed by Tuesday. Here is the notes.

In honors math II we went through composition of transformations. This occurs when you complete multiple transformations in a row. We introduced it by doing familiar problems and then transitioning them to compositions. After some practice, I gave them a project that they will work on after the quiz tomorrow. Here are the notes. Here is the project.

In academic we began our new unit. They received both a notes and hw packet as well as a unit outline. We began talking about transformations. Translations are first. We went through the notes and they practiced many problems. Afterwards I let them work on the homework and walked around answering questions. I then explained more examples and solidified their understanding.

Here are the notes and unit outline

In Honors Math II, we went through rotations practice. I explained the rules and then we practiced them all. After some practice we discussed all the transformations so far and how they connect. We discussed how we will be completing multiple transformations in quick succession. Here are the notes.

Today was the pre-ACT day so the sophomores and juniors were not in 1st block. We did not complete our lesson in class today and will begin it tomorrow. In 4th block academic we completed a desmos computer based introductory activity with transformations.

Today in Honors Math II, we took our quiz and then went on to our next day of notes. We moved on to talking about dilations today. Dilations are stretches or shrinks of the object. Here are the notes.

Today in academic we took the exam. There is no homework. We will begin the new unit tomorrow.

In honors, we completed day 2 of notes. This was on reflections. We went through the rules and how to accomplish this both algebraically and graphically. Tomorrow we will continue with a quiz and our next day of notes.

Here are the notes from today.
