Today we continued our new unit and completed 6.2. This lesson was a continuation of 6.1 and we used the information from 6.1 and square root functions and added in the idea of inverse functions.
The homework is 6.2 RSG The retest is Thursday and that along with the performance task will be the final grades of Quarter 3 There will be a quiz Thursday 3/28 and test on Thursday 4/4 Today was different in each class.
In 1st block we didn't have class so I told them to complete 3.7 lesson for homework. In 2nd block I went through much of 3.7 and they worked on it, but didn't finish. They must finish it for homework. In 3rd block we completed 3.8 lesson and they must complete 3.8 rsg for homework. The quiz is Monday and the Performance task is Wednesday. The test is Thursday. Today we completed 3.6. It was practicing solving by factoring and completing the square. Homework is ready set go.
Students should know the quiz has been moved to Monday 3/18. The performance task is 3/20 and test 3/21 Today we quizzed. It was a quick 5 question quiz with matching. It was essentially a formative assessment so it will not be weighted as a full quiz. They should get them back tomorrow and use them to study with and learn what is expected of them moving forward. We then began our next lesson. Tomorrow we will finish the lesson and learn how to solve for x-ints.
The retest is tomorrow and the next quiz is thursday. Homework 1 Homework 2 Today we got through the 3.3 lesson finishing up our investigation into compounding interest. The intention of these lessons is to use a context they are familiar with (compounding interest) to discover the relationship between radicals and exponents so that they can convert back. It also helped them use some exponent rules and radical rules to simplify and convert back and forth.
Their homework today was the 3.3 RSG. The quizzes has been moved to 3/11 and 3/14. Retest still next Tuesday 3/12. Perf Task 3/19 Test 03/20 Sorry, for the gap between posts. I tried to post last Friday, but it must not have uploaded.
We started our new unit today and I haven't told the students our entire unit outline yet, but I will tell you all on here. We are starting our solving quadratics unit which will include factoring, completing the square, and solving by reversing operations. It will also include exponent rules and radical rules. It will include number systems and imaginary numbers. We will be having a quiz on Friday 03/08 over the first few days of material. We will have a second quiz scheduled now for next Wednesday 03/13 and the test will be the Wednesday after on 03/20 with the performance task the day before on 03/19. The retest for Unit 4 will be next Tuesday 03/12 at the time of the student's request. Before the retest students must schedule time to remediate with me and complete test corrections. They must turn them in to me correct before they can retest. If they do not do this they will not be allowed to retest. Today we completed 3-1 The In-Betweeners. This day wasn't on quadratics, but was on exponents and exponential (geometric) equations. We found how to work backwards and find the common ratio when there are gaps in the information and what to do if the ratio isn't an integer. Their homework was the RSG and we will continue with this tomorrow. Today's lesson was not something they needed to become experts in yet, but was meant to open the door into there ideas so that we can look around and investigate tomorrow. |
