We started our new unit today and I haven't told the students our entire unit outline yet, but I will tell you all on here. We are starting our solving quadratics unit which will include factoring, completing the square, and solving by reversing operations. It will also include exponent rules and radical rules. It will include number systems and imaginary numbers.
We will be having a quiz on Friday 03/08 over the first few days of material. We will have a second quiz scheduled now for next Wednesday 03/13 and the test will be the Wednesday after on 03/20 with the performance task the day before on 03/19.
The retest for Unit 4 will be next Tuesday 03/12 at the time of the student's request. Before the retest students must schedule time to remediate with me and complete test corrections. They must turn them in to me correct before they can retest. If they do not do this they will not be allowed to retest.
Today we completed 3-1 The In-Betweeners. This day wasn't on quadratics, but was on exponents and exponential (geometric) equations. We found how to work backwards and find the common ratio when there are gaps in the information and what to do if the ratio isn't an integer. Their homework was the RSG and we will continue with this tomorrow. Today's lesson was not something they needed to become experts in yet, but was meant to open the door into there ideas so that we can look around and investigate tomorrow.
