I apologize for not getting this started sooner, but from now on I will attempt to write a blog post about each day of the week and update with documents from that day's lesson.
Today in academic math II we finished talking about complex numbers and began our discussion and practice with the quadratic formula. The notes can be found here. We did some practice with them and talked about the discriminant and what that means. Tomorrow we will have a quiz on complex numbers, simplifying radicals, and the quadratic formula. The test is coming up next Wednesday 09/20.
In honors we talked about the same basic material but at a more advanced level. I discussed where the quadratic formula came from as well as the origin of the +/- in the problem. We practiced some examples and then talked about the discriminant and why it has the power to tell us the number and types of solutions. They will have a quiz tomorrow on complex numbers, simplifying radicals, and the quadratic formula. The test is coming up next Wednesday 09/20. The notes can be found here.
